Sinbad Sweets: Recipes
Sinbad's Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
This recipe has been in our family for at least 3 generations. You will get a couple of dozen cookies out of this. The nuts are optional but I'd put them in; it just wouldn't be the same without them. Kind of like Thanksgiving without the turkey.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter (unsalted)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 -1/2 cups flour (all-purpose)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1-1/2 cups walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 2 -1/2 cups best quality chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 325.

Using an electric mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar and sugar until fluffy.

Add the eggs and vanilla extract and beat for another 30 seconds or so.

In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients and then add to butter/sugar mixture and mix for 30 seconds. Stir in walnuts and chocolate chips.

Form the dough into golf ball size portions. Place on grease cookie sheet about 3" apart. Press down on dough with fingers or back of spoon so that each ball roughly resembles a puck. Bake for about 15 minutes or till nicely browned around the edges.

Makes about 2 dozen cookies
